For those of us wanting to feel more prepared for how our kids are emotionally entering and exiting our rooms, this Check In/Check Out system is great, easy, and free. Have students names written down and when you greet them at the door, they tell you a number that reflects how they are doing (teach 1-5 scale ahead of time). You are now armed with information about how the next class may go for them, and kids can be supported more easily. Anyone under a certain number you make sure to check in with once the class is settled.
